Our Values

Love
We love because God first loved us. Following in the footsteps of Jesus Christ who continues loving us unconditionally, we selflessly obey the command to love God and love one another.

Joy
We rejoice in all circumstances. Knowing and delighting in the fact that the greatest source of joy is found in Jesus Christ, we freely enjoy fun fellowship with one another.

Thankfulness
We constantly give thanks for everything God has done for us. Every victory, blessing, and gift–our salvation through Jesus Christ above all–we attribute to His grace, righteousness, and love.

Prayer
We pray unceasingly. Pursuing a deep spiritual intimacy with God, we take everything to God in prayer and submit to His will.

Excellence
We strive for excellence according to God's will and for his glory. During our time in this world while not of it, we aim to pursue godly excellence through use of our gifts and service opportunities to further God's kingdom.

5_Core_Values_of_Oikos_LA

Why OIKOS LA?

Our name comes from the Greek word "οἶκος." According to BDAG, oikos means literally (1) "house" or a dwelling (Mt. 9:7; Lk. 11:17; Acts 2:2) and or figuratively (2) "of the Christian community as the spiritual temple of God" (1 Pet. 2:5; 1 Tim. 3:15).

Therefore, oikos means "household" or "family." Here, at OIKOS LA, it is our desire to be a household or family of God.
